Embark on a transformative journey with APU University Malaysia Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (Honours) with a specialism in Forensic Accounting program. Explore a myriad of invaluable insights and skills, detailed below:
In the first year, students will acquire fundamental skills essential for accounting and finance professionals. They will develop a basic understanding of the legal, business, and social environment in which accounting operates. Through hands-on training with accounting software, including the globally recognized enterprise resource planning software SAP, students will familiarize themselves with business processes and gain practical experience with the system.
Moving into the second year, expands students' knowledge in traditional areas of Accounting and Finance. They will gain a better understanding of subjects such as Management Accounting, Taxation, Financial Management, Advanced Corporate Reporting, and Forensic Accounting. In addition, students will focus on developing technology savviness, an important soft skill for independent learning and workplace readiness. Modules such as Emerging Technologies for Accounting and Finance and Data Analytics in Accounting and Finance will expose them to the latest technological advancements in the field.
During the 16-week internship or industrial training, students will undertake a minimum 16-week internship or industrial training. This internship experience is designed to prepare them for a smooth transition from the classroom to the working environment. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge, gain practical skills, and gain real-world experience in the accounting and finance industry.
In the third year, students will build upon their previous studies and industrial experience, focusing on the detailed study of audit, examination, and investigation issues from a financial perspective. The program aims to groom students as leaders in forensic accounting, expanding their knowledge in this specialized field. They will learn to identify areas of potential concern and develop skills in fraud investigation techniques, digital forensic analysis, and criminology. Capstone modules like Reflective Practice in Accounting & Finance will enhance students' problem-solving skills. Furthermore, students will explore the effects of decisions on the environment, society, and governance (ESG) through dedicated modules. The final year project will provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their abilities in their chosen area of study.
Students who joined the Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (Honours) with a specialism in Forensic Accounting at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year. SPTM
• 2 Passes in STPM with a minimum Grade C+ (GP 2.33) and a Credit in Mathematics and a Pass in English at SPM Level or its equivalent.
