Embark on a transformative journey with APU University Malaysia Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (Honours) with a specialism in Accounting Technology program. Explore a myriad of invaluable insights and skills, detailed below:
In the first year, students will acquire fundamental skills necessary for accounting and finance professionals. They will develop a basic understanding of the legal, business, and social environment in which accounting operates. Through hands-on training with accounting software, including the leading enterprise resource planning software SAP, students will familiarize themselves with business processes. This level aims to provide a strong foundation in accounting and finance.
Moving into the second year, builds on the foundation established in Level 1 and expands students' knowledge in traditional areas of Accounting and Finance. They will gain a deeper understanding of subjects such as Management Accounting, Taxation, Financial Management, and Advanced Corporate Reporting. Additionally, students will develop technology savviness, an important soft skill for independent learning, workplace readiness, and further research. Modules such as Emerging Technologies for Accounting and Finance, Data Analytics in Accounting and Finance, and Application of AI in Finance will expose them to the latest technological advancements in the field.
During the 16-week internship or industrial training, students will embark on a minimum 16-week internship or industrial training. This internship experience is designed to facilitate a smooth transition from the classroom to the working environment. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge, gain practical skills, and familiarize themselves with real-world scenarios in accounting and finance.
In the third year, students will further expand their knowledge in the application of technologies and data analytics in accounting and finance. They will focus on areas such as Big Data and Visual Analytics in Accounting and Finance, Cybersecurity and Auditing, and Analytics through hands-on training. Problem-solving skills will be enhanced through modules like Reflective Practice in Accounting & Finance. Students will also explore the impact of decisions and activities on the environment, society, and governance (ESG) through modules such as Strategy, Sustainability, and Leadership, as well as a Seminar in Accounting and finance. The final year project will require students to independently explore a topic, showcasing their academic and practical abilities in their chosen area of study.
Students who joined the Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (Honours) with a specialism in Accounting Technology at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year. • 2 Passes in STPM with a minimum Grade C+ (GP 2.33) and a Credit in Mathematics and a Pass in English at SPM Level or its equivalent.
