Embark on a transformative journey with APU University Malaysia Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Industrial Design program. Explore a myriad of invaluable insights and skills, detailed below:

What you will learn in a glance?

In the first year, students will focus on the foundational aspects of industrial design. They will learn essential skills such as drawing, creative thinking, project management, design process, and model making. Through a combination of manual and digital sketching, brainstorming methods, and model-making, students will bring their conceptual designs to life. Working in teams, they will manage projects, handle tight timelines, and develop communication and entrepreneurial skills.

Moving into the second year, students will delve into advanced 3D modeling skills, with a particular emphasis on advanced form and conceptual design. They will learn to translate consumer needs, market demands, and identified problems into designs that effectively address those needs. The focus will be on holistic design considerations, including ergonomic design, manufacturing processes, understanding different materials, and meeting market requirements.

During the 16-week internship or industrial training, students will undertake practical training in an industrial setting. This internship experience is designed to facilitate a seamless transition from the classroom to the professional working environment. Students will gain hands-on experience, develop industry-specific skills, and acquire valuable insights into real-world design practices.

In the third year, students will leverage their knowledge from previous studies and industrial experience to produce a high-quality final year project. They will have the freedom to choose a topic or area of study aligned with their specialization interests. Students will be responsible for managing the entire project, including design processes, timelines, and budgets. They will also have the opportunity to explore industry projects and competition briefs. The culmination of their work will be showcased in a final year exhibition, where professional industry guests will be invited to view and assess the students' projects.
