Embark on a transformative journey with APU University Malaysia Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Visual Effects program. Explore a myriad of invaluable insights and skills, detailed below:
In the first year, students will focus on establishing a strong foundation. They will learn drawing and concept sketching techniques, develop creative thinking skills for visual design, and understand the importance of research and analysis in conceptualizing ideas. Technically, they will be introduced to the VFX workflow through Digital Art and Illustration, 3D Modeling, and Compositing Techniques. Teamwork, project management, and presentation skills are also emphasized during this level.
Moving into the second year, the program builds upon the core skills acquired in the previous year. Students will enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. They will delve into advanced 3D Modeling and Compositing skills using industry-standard software. Additionally, students have the opportunity to select elective modules that align with their specific interests and further strengthen their skills in their chosen field.
During the 16-week internship or industrial training, students will engage in practical training within the VFX industry. This internship aims to bridge the gap between the classroom and the professional working environment. Students will gain hands-on experience, hone their industry-specific skills, and develop valuable insights into real-world VFX practices.
In the third year, students will apply their prior knowledge and skills to create professional portfolio projects as part of their final year projects (FYP). They will go through the entire production process, including proposal pitch, pre-production, production, and post-production, with guidance from experts and industry professionals. The students will have the opportunity to showcase their work in an end-of-year show, which involves industry partners and potential employers, providing them with potential avenues for immediate employment.
Students who joined Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Visual Effects at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates & Transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year.
