In the first year, students in the banking and finance program will acquire fundamental skills essential for professionals in the industry. They will develop a basic understanding of business management and finance, along with an introduction to business communication, accounting, and management skills. This level aims to provide students with a solid foundation in the core principles of banking and finance.
Moving into the second year, builds upon the foundation established in Level 1 and offers a broader range of skills and knowledge. Students will gain a better understanding of banking instruments, procedures, credit management, and the overall financial system environment. They will also be introduced to tools and tests used in various financial markets through the use of econometric software. Additionally, students will receive hands-on training in technologies that drive FinTech solutions, including Python programming and R-programming.
During the 16-week internship or industrial training, students will undertake a minimum 16-week internship or industrial training. This internship experience is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the working environment. It provides students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge, gain practical skills, and familiarize themselves with real-world banking and finance scenarios.
In the third year, students will leverage their previous studies and industrial experience to delve into the practical aspects of banking practices and theories, as well as the development of international banking and investment theories in global banking practices. The aim is to groom students as leaders in the banking and finance industry. Additionally, students will undertake a final-year project where they explore a topic individually, demonstrating their academic and practical abilities in their chosen area of study.
Students who joined the bachelor in Banking and Finance (Hons) at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year. SPTM
• 2 Passes in STPM with a minimum Grade C+ (GP 2.33) and a Credit in Mathematics and a Pass in English at SPM Level or its equivalent.
