In the first year, students will acquire a basic understanding of the business context. They will study subjects such as management, law, accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, and marketing. Additionally, students will develop business and communication skills, computing and IT skills, quantitative skills, and independent learning capabilities. The common first year provides a solid foundation in business management theories and practices, ensuring students are well-prepared for their future studies.
Moving into the second year builds upon the foundational knowledge gained in the first year and introduces a more advanced curriculum. Students will explore subjects such as behavioural science, business ethics and governance, critical thinking in management, and international culture and communications. They will also develop a comprehensive understanding of human resource management, including its discipline and core practices. Through the use of industry-leading software supported by SAP, students will gain further insight into core business processes. Independent learning will continue to be nurtured to prepare students for the workplace and further research.
During the 16-week internship or industrial training, students will undertake a minimum 16-week internship or industrial training. This internship offers practical exposure to the working environment, facilitating a smooth transition from the classroom to the professional world. It provides students with hands-on experience, allowing them to apply their knowledge and develop essential skills relevant to human resource management.
In the third year, students will utilize their previous studies and industrial experience to tackle practical and modern issues in human resource management. They will engage in modules that facilitate the application of job-related skills and knowledge in the field. The curriculum will focus on leadership and strategic management skills, aiming to groom students as global business leaders. A final-year project will require students to explore a topic individually, allowing them to demonstrate their academic and practical abilities in their chosen area of study.
Students who joined the Bachelor (Hons) in Human Resource Management at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year. • 2 Passes in STPM with a minimum Grade C (GP 2.0) and a Pass in English and Mathematics at SPM Level or its equivalent
