In the first year, students in the international relations program will acquire knowledge and understanding of historical events and global development in the field. They will explore political ideologies, issues in world politics, the impact of major revolutions in international affairs, as well as sustainability and environmental politics. This level aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of international relations and its various facets.
Moving into the second year, builds upon the foundational knowledge acquired in Level 1. Students will delve into the theoretical and conceptual framework of the discipline, examining the role of international organizations, inequality in the global economy, the role of small powers in politics, and environmental policies. This level offers a broad overview of major theoretical debates, political issues, and key developments in international relations. Students will develop analytical skills of comparison and enhance their competence in using these skills to inform their understanding through written and oral presentations.
During the 16-week internship or industrial training, sThis internship experience is designed to facilitate a smooth transition from the classroom to the working environment. It provides students with practical exposure to the field of international relations, allowing them to apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world setting.

Students who joined the Bachelor (Hons) in International Relations at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year. • 2 Passes in A-Level in any 2 subjects, and a Credit in English at SPM/O-Level/ IGCSE or its equivalent.
