What you will learn in a glance?

In the first year, students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge of tourism and hospitality as a discipline. They will develop a foundational understanding of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industry, including modules on management, accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship, law, and people management. Students will also focus on issues related to managing services within the industry. Furthermore, they will acquire essential business and communication skills, computing and IT skills, and cultivate independent learning. The program will also introduce them to various techniques and applications of virtual reality and augmented reality through an exploration of VRAR and Metaverse.

Moving into the second year, students will deepen their knowledge and skills in the field of tourism and hospitality business. They will gain a comprehensive understanding of topics such as e-tourism, digital marketing, consumer behavior, retail, geography, international culture and communication, revenue management, as well as hotel accommodation and restaurant management. Additionally, students will explore sector-specific applications within tourism and hospitality management. The curriculum aims to foster creativity, innovation, and independent learning, preparing students for the workplace and potential future research endeavors.

During the 16-week internship or industrial training, Students will have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, gaining practical exposure and hands-on experience in the tourism and hospitality industry. The internship aims to develop their professional skills, enhance their understanding of industry operations, and prepare them for future career roles.

In the third year,  students will build upon their previous studies and industrial experience to further expand their familiarity with contemporary issues and sustainable practices in the tourism and hospitality field. They will delve into topics such as related policies, marketing strategies, event management, and overall industry management. The curriculum aims to groom students as leaders in the tourism and hospitality industry, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to address current challenges and promote sustainability. The final year project will require students to explore a topic individually, allowing them to showcase their academic and practical abilities in their chosen area of study. This project will demonstrate their proficiency in applying theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.

Dual Degrees from APU and DMU United Kindom

Students who joined the Bachelor (Hons) in Tourism Management with a specialism in Hospitality at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year. SPTM

• 2 Passes in STPM with a minimum Grade C (GP 2.0) and a Pass in English and Mathematics at SPM Level or its equivalent
