In the first year, students will develop fundamental essential skills required for a successful career in business management. They will gain a basic understanding of key subjects such as management, law, accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, marketing, people management, and accounting. Additionally, students will be exposed to business and communication skills, computing and IT skills, quantitative skills, and independent learning. The common first year ensures that students receive a solid grounding in business management theories and practices, providing them with a strong foundation for their future studies.
Moving into the second year builds upon the foundational knowledge gained in the first year and focuses on digital marketing. Students will acquire a better understanding of a broad range of digital tools and gain specialized skills in applying frameworks and planning techniques for interactive digital marketing. They will develop a solid understanding of how digital marketing supports modern organizational operations. The curriculum aims to nurture their creativity, innovation, and independent learning capabilities in preparation for the dynamic and digitally-driven marketing environments.
During the 16-week internship or industrial training, students will engage in a minimum 16-week internship or industrial training. This internship provides practical exposure to the working environment, allowing students to experience a smooth transition from the classroom to the professional world. Through the internship, students will gain hands-on experience, apply their knowledge, and develop valuable skills relevant to digital marketing.
In the third year, students will leverage their previous studies and industrial experience to deepen their familiarity with digital marketing strategies. They will explore new opportunities, exploit competitive advantages, and enhance their decision-making processes in the digital marketing landscape. The curriculum aims to groom students as digitally savvy marketing specialists, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field. The final year project will require students to undertake a hands-on digital marketing project, allowing them to apply their expertise and skills acquired from both the classroom and internship settings. Successful completion of the final year project will demonstrate the student's ability to confidently and adeptly tackle major digital marketing scenarios.
Students who joined the Bachelor (Hons) in Marketing Management with a specialism in Digital Marketing at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year.
