Embark on a transformative journey with APU University Malaysia Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering with Honours program. Explore a myriad of invaluable insights and skills, detailed below:
In the first year, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the basic principles of engineering, with a focus on petroleum-related topics. They will study subjects such as Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Geology, and Engineering Materials. In addition, modules will be provided to develop academic skills demanded by employers, as well as foundational knowledge in IT and entrepreneurship. Students will also learn important skills for managing activities and independent learning.
Moving into the second year, students will focus on modules such as Rocks & Fluid Properties, Formation Evaluation & Well Logging, and Introduction to Engineering Software and Applications. These modules will deepen their understanding of petroleum engineering principles and provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to work with engineering software.
In the third year, students will focus on specialized knowledge and skills in areas such as Reservoir Simulation, Drilling Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Well Design and completion, Production Engineering, Enhanced Oil Recovery, Well Testing, and Gas Engineering. The curriculum emphasizes the application of engineering skills, critical thinking, and analysis. Independent learning continues to be emphasized throughout all modules.
During the 16-week internship or industrial training, students will undertake practical training through an Internship/Industrial Training program. This experience is designed to prepare students for a smooth transition from the classroom to the working environment. They will gain hands-on experience, develop industry-specific skills, and acquire valuable insights into real-world petroleum engineering practices.
The final year of the program provides students with industry application and technological skills that are highly valuable for employment upon graduation. Students will undergo personal and professional development, enhance their technical capabilities, and deepen their understanding of innovation, idea generation, and project management through Engineering Projects. These projects will allow them to demonstrate higher-level critical thinking, analysis, and solution development skills, ultimately enhancing their employability in the field of Petroleum Engineering.
Students who joined the Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering with Honours at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year. For more information about this Scheme (Click here)
