Embark on a transformative journey with APU University Malaysia Bachelor's (Hons) in Computer Science (Cyber Security) program. Explore a myriad of invaluable insights and skills, detailed below:
In the first year, students will acquire fundamental skills necessary for IT professionals. They will develop a basic understanding of programming, mathematical concepts, and algorithmic skills. Emphasis is placed on building a solid foundation in mathematics and algorithmic thinking, which are essential prerequisites for their second and third-year studies. Students will also gain knowledge in computer architecture, operating systems, networks, databases, and security. Additionally, an introduction to management will equip them with personal and organizational development skills, along with the ability to work independently and in teams.
Moving into the second year, builds upon the foundational knowledge from the previous level and expands the scope of learning in Cyber Security-related areas. Students will deepen their understanding of platform technology through core modules. Specialized modules will enable them to delve deeper into system and network administration, computing theory, computer systems, low-level techniques, and the implementation of secure systems. This level emphasizes the development of flexible computing skills through extended theories and practical applications in Cyber Security.
During the 16-week internship or industrial training, students will embark on a minimum 16-week training program designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the professional working environment. This hands-on experience will prepare students for real-world challenges, allowing them to apply their knowledge in practical scenarios. The internship will provide opportunities to develop professional networks, gain industry insights, and enhance essential workplace skills.
In the third year, students will leverage their previous studies and industrial experience to refine their personal and professional growth in the field of computer science, with a specialization in Cyber Security. They will deepen their expertise by engaging with core and specialized modules that focus on advanced skills and knowledge in current and future technologies. Elective modules will further strengthen essential skills and knowledge. A final year project will require students to investigate and develop a solution for a real-world problem, showcasing their ability to integrate technical knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills to create a comprehensive personal achievement portfolio.
Students who joined Bachelor (Hons) in Computer Science (Cyber Security) at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year.
