What you will learn in a glance?
In the first year, students will acquire fundamental skills necessary for technical multimedia professionals. They will develop a basic understanding of programming and system design, along with specialized modules focusing on multimedia techniques such as 3D graphics and digital image processing. These modules will not only provide technical knowledge but also foster personal and organizational skills, creativity, and innovation. Additionally, the Introduction to VRAR will introduce students to the exciting realm of multimedia content delivery in virtual reality and augmented reality.
Moving into the second year expands students' skill set by providing a broader range of knowledge in multimedia applications. Students will gain a better understanding of multimedia components, frameworks, guidelines, and techniques in animation, audio, and visual domains. Emphasis will be placed on nurturing creativity, innovation, and independent learning to prepare students for the workplace. Additionally, the importance of copyright in the digital content landscape will be highlighted. Students will explore the principles and technology of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) both theoretically and practically, gaining insights into their applications in the market and projects.
During the 16-week internship or industrial training, students will engage in practical training to facilitate a smooth transition from the classroom to the professional working environment. This hands-on experience will allow them to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world scenarios, gaining valuable industry experience. The internship will enhance their practical understanding, expand their professional networks, and equip them with essential workplace skills.
In the third year, students will leverage their previous studies and industrial experience to further develop their familiarity with multimedia technology and refine their personal and professional growth. They will delve deeper into media scripting technology and advanced multimedia development and techniques. Moreover, students will learn to analyze user perceptions and feedback, considering socioeconomic factors, cultures, and regional considerations in the context of User Experience (UX), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and Usability. This level provides an opportunity to develop academic and practical aspects through student projects, focusing on areas of study such as generating virtual environments and superimposing computer-generated images on a user's view of the real world.
Dual Degrees from APU and DMU United Kindom
Students who joined Bachelor (Hons) in Multimedia Technology with a specialism in VR/AR at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year.
