The Information & Communication Technology with a specialism in Interactive Technology program provides students with a comprehensive curriculum that covers foundational skills in mathematics, language, communication, and core information technology.
Semester 1 focuses on acquiring basic mathematical, language, communication, and information technology skills. Students develop an understanding of fundamental concepts and terminology related to technology and business management.
Semester 2 builds upon the foundation established in the first semester, advancing language and communication skills to more advanced levels of research and professionalism. Students enhance their ability to analyze and solve problems using quantitative skills and gain familiarity with technology.
Semester 3 elevates students to a new level in information and communication technology, covering areas such as computer programming, databases, internet applications, and computer system architecture. With this knowledge, students can employ computing tools and techniques to address real-world problems.
Semester 4 introduces students to more advanced development concepts, including usability principles in web design, system development cycles, and computer game-level design. Employability skills are also emphasized through principles of operating systems to prepare students for technical support roles.
Semester 5 expands students' knowledge of computing technology, including computer networks and multimedia technology. They gain an understanding of graphics, audio, and video applications. Students also design and implement algorithms using a second programming language and complete a software development project that integrates skills, knowledge, and multimedia techniques for business presentations and entertainment.
Semester 6 involves an internship or industrial training of at least 8 weeks, allowing students to gain practical experience and prepare for a smooth transition from the classroom to the working environment.
Upon successful completion of this programme and fulfillment of requirements for credit transfer, you will be eligible to progress into Level 2 of the following degree programmes offered at APU
Students who joined the Diploma in Information & Communication Technology with a specialism in Interactive Technology at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year. • 3 Credits in at least 3 subjects at SPM level including Mathematics, with a minimum of a pass in Bahasa Malaysia and Sejarah (History)
