The Accounting program provides students with a comprehensive curriculum covering various aspects of accounting, business management, information technology, and related subjects.
Semester 1 focuses on building basic IT skills and developing design thinking skills with a focus on digital innovation. Students are introduced to terminologies and concepts related to business managerial skills.
Semester 2 offers modules in professional communications and quantitative methods to further develop accounting knowledge and skills. Students also learn about information systems in accounting, specifically practicing AIS applications for strategic and operational decision-making.
Semester 3 advances students' understanding of financial accounting and introduces related subjects such as economics, marketing, and business statistics to enhance problem-solving and decision-making abilities in different business areas.
Semester 4 exposes students to the latest concepts, techniques, trends, and issues in financial accounting and reporting. Modules focus on enhancing application skills in higher-level accounting areas. Students are also introduced to financial systems, fintech, and entrepreneurship fundamentals.
Semester 5 allows students to delve into advanced areas of accounting and taxation. The curriculum integrates accounting theory, practical applications, and computer technologies. Students develop cognitive and intellectual skills in business management, information technology, finance, and accounting. They also gain an understanding of auditing concepts, including the usage of big data, artificial intelligence, and robo-auditing.
Upon successful completion of this programme and fulfillment of requirements for credit transfer, you will be eligible to progress into Level 2 of the following degree programmes offered at APU
Students who joined the Diploma in Accounting at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year. • 3 Credits in at least 3 subjects at SPM level including Mathematics, with a minimum of a pass in Bahasa Malaysia and Sejarah (History)
