The Doctor of Philosophy (Business, Management & Entrepreneurship) at Help University Malaysia is designed to prepare students for a career as an academic or researcher in the public and private sector. The research in the PhD programme is a supervised programme, providing an opportunity for students to conduct an in-depth investigation of specific research issue related to a business, management and entrepreneurship discipline which contributes to knowledge in that field of study.

Entry Requirements

  • A recognised Master’s degree in business or relevant field or other qualification approved by the HELP University Senate.
  • International applicants are required to fulfil a minimum score of 6.0 for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or its equivalent.
  • Admission is subject to the approval of the research proposal and the appointment of a suitably qualified supervisor to support the intended research area.

Course Requirement

This is a research-based PhD programme. The candidate is required to conduct independent research under an academic supervisor/supervisory committee, complete the thesis and orally defend his/her thesis in a proposal defence and attend a viva voce.

Other Requirement: Students are to acquire sufficient research skills training hours as prescribed by the faculty before the proposal defence. On top of this, a student undertaking research in the entrepreneurship-related area is required to undertake two Entrepreneurship modules:

  • Managing Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
  • The supervisor may prescribe other courses to the student to supplement their learning from time to time.
