The Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science (By Research) program at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) has been offered by the Department of Computer Science since 2011. This program is designed to deepen knowledge and develop technical competencies in various areas of computer science.

Graduates are expected to demonstrate a high level of understanding in computer science theories and applications, going beyond implementation details to appreciate the structure of computer systems and the processes involved in their construction and analysis. Additionally, students will gain insights into the interplay between theory and practice, enabling them to understand the theoretical foundations of computer science and their practical applications.

Furthermore, the program aims to cultivate graduates who embody the qualities of Muslim scientists—technically proficient, pious, and committed to serving the Ummah. This holistic approach prepares students to make significant contributions to the field of computer science while upholding ethical values.

Entry Requirements 

• A relevant Bachelor’s degree (as specified in Rules No. 1.1.1. – 1.1.2.) and a Master’s degree from the IIUM or any other accredited institution of higher learning.
