The Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling (By Coursework) at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is a professional programme that prepares practitioners to deliver effective, ethical and culturally sensitive counselling and student support services. Through advanced coursework and supervised practical activities, students develop competencies in counselling theories and techniques, developmental and educational psychology, assessment and diagnosis, group counselling, career guidance, crisis intervention and programme planning.
The programme emphasises Islamic values, professional ethics and evidence‑based practice, equipping graduates to support learners’ emotional, social and academic development across school and higher‑education settings. Graduates are prepared for roles as counsellors, student support coordinators and guidance specialists, able to design and manage counselling programmes, lead prevention and intervention initiatives, and contribute to teacher training and applied research in guidance and counselling.
