This course enables students to become independent researchers and experts in their selected area of education. The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) offers high-quality doctoral training at the School of Education, where applicants should have a solid research background in their chosen discipline (see our areas of strength below). Students are expected to be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and possess an inquisitive mindset.

International students are registered as full-time students due to immigration requirements, while local students have the option to choose between part-time and full-time study. All doctoral candidates will be based at the Malaysia campus.

Entry Requirements  

• An upper second class honours degree (or international equivalent) in a relevant discipline and normally some experience in research methodology, (e.g., undergraduate level dissertation or research project). Non-UK qualifications will be assessed against this standard.
• If deemed necessary, applicants may also be required to attend an interview.
