Communications and Media are constantly evolving and play an increasingly significant role in our daily lives. Whether it's through platforms like Netflix, Facebook, and Instagram, your favorite online game, or an interactive installation you experienced at a museum, media messaging is pervasive. Today, these messages are crafted around narratives, with branding narratives shaping the way we perceive information across all media forms. In this program, we will explore these concepts through the lens of narratives, examining how contemporary media has developed storytelling as an organizing principle and its implications for society.
You will learn how messages are constructed and their impact on our culture and society. This program will enable you to analyze how different media shape the transmission and definition of messages and how emerging technologies influence the content we receive. You will acquire this knowledge through a blend of theoretical frameworks and practical experiences. Additionally, you will develop a research-based thesis project that merges creative and academic research methodologies. This approach fosters knowledge and innovation through artistic expression, scholarly inquiry, and experimentation, culminating in an original artistic work accompanied by a scholarly component.
