The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Science is a research-focused program that engages students in bidirectional translational medicine. This program centers on studies that either bring current patient and medical care issues into laboratory settings or translate scientific discoveries made in labs or clinics into new treatments and approaches aimed at improving health and medical care in the community.

With the guidance of supervisors, students will identify a research question or topic within the realm of medical science and conduct their research independently. They are required to complete a taught module, Clinical Research Methodology, which prepares them for effective project planning and management while fostering ethical awareness and social responsibility. To graduate, students must produce a thesis based on their original research and successfully complete the thesis examination and viva voce.

Entry Requirements

• A Master’s degree in medical science or related fields accepted by the University Senate.
