The Post Basic Certificate in Perioperative Nursing (PBCPN) is a 6-month program developed by the School of Medical and Life Sciences at Sunway University. It received official approval from the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) and the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) on March 9, 2021. The curriculum is structured in accordance with the Standards and Guidelines set by the Nursing Board Malaysia. The PBCPN is a 20-credit program, with clinical practice primarily conducted at Sunway Medical Centre and KKM hospitals.

The program includes various subjects, such as the fundamentals of systemic perioperative nursing, communication and counseling, anesthesia care in perioperative nursing, and more. Through these subjects, the program equips graduates to provide effective care, communication, and counseling. It also ensures they develop a solid foundation in essential skills, including surgical instrumentation, principles of sterility, anesthesia, and safe perioperative nursing practices, such as surgical scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and patient skin preparation principles.
