The Bachelor of Science in Architecture (Honours) at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) combines the art and science of building, preparing students to become proficient architects. The term "architecture" originates from the Latin word "architectura" and the Greek word "arkhitekton," meaning "master builder."

As trained professionals, architects play a vital role in transforming clients' spatial needs into reality. They are involved in all aspects of design, construction, and commissioning of building projects. In the private sector, architects may work in architectural consultancy firms, and with sufficient experience and successful completion of professional examinations, they can establish their own practices.

This program aligns with the Board of Architects Malaysia (Part I) requirements, serving as a foundational step toward becoming a registered architect. It is designed for students aspiring to pursue a career in architecture and practice in Malaysia. For those without the necessary pre-university qualifications, a Foundation program is available to help them transition into the degree study.

Future Careers

Graduates of this program can work as architectural assistants, supporting professional architects in design and drafting activities. This Part I degree serves as a solid foundation for further studies in architecture, leading to a Part II professional Master's program. Upon completing the Master's program, graduates can register as professional architects after passing the LAM Part III Professional Examinations, which requires a minimum of two years of work experience in a registered architectural practice.
