The Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Food Science at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) integrates pure science disciplines such as chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition, biology, and microbiology to explore the nature, properties, and composition of foods. The program examines the changes foods undergo during storage and processing, focusing on transforming these into safe and high-quality products for consumers.
Graduates will gain exposure to functional foods that promote healthy lifestyles and develop advanced laboratory skills alongside current techniques in food science, including safety practices and standards. This training fosters professionalism in the field.
As a result, graduates will possess a versatile skill set, enabling them to pursue production and managerial roles in food industries, consulting laboratories, government organizations, and regulatory bodies. The program also aims to prepare technically competent graduates for entrepreneurship and new product development in the food industry.
