The Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry program at Universiti Malaya UM is a key area of study that explores the chemical processes within living organisms by examining molecular interactions and studying biomolecules such as carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids This molecular understanding is vital for learning about biological processes occurring in cells and organisms, as well as for investigating the properties of biological molecules for various applications

Originally founded in the Faculty of Medicine in 1963, the Department of Biochemistry transitioned to the Faculty of Science in 1997 under the Institute of Biological Sciences The program has successfully produced graduates for over 24 years and has established itself as one of the leading undergraduate programs in the country, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for various careers in science and research.
