The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management program at Universiti Malaya (UM) is structured in a 3u1i mode, comprising three years of university study followed by one year in the industry. This design aims to produce competent graduates in environmental management. Students will build a strong foundation in biology and gain exposure to the latest developments in various environmental modules, including water management, environmental impact assessment, biological monitoring, sustainable development, coastal management, environmental toxicology, waste management, environmental auditing, health and safety, and slope management. Many courses include practical components, featuring laboratory experiments and fieldwork, where students learn to identify problems, develop solutions, and collaborate on addressing environmental challenges. The program includes comprehensive industrial training for two semesters in the final year to prepare students for real-life challenges. Additionally, students can engage in various community and environment-based activities and will complete a research project in an area of their interest, culminating in a project thesis.

Graduates of this program can pursue employment opportunities in a variety of fields, including chemical and oil companies, the agriculture sector, and national agencies. This diverse skill set equips them to contribute meaningfully to various sectors focused on sustainability and environmental protection.
