The Bachelor of Tamil Language and Linguistics program at Universiti Malaya (UM) aims to produce knowledgeable and successful graduates proficient in language and linguistics, particularly in Tamil. The program prepares students to be competitive in their careers, accountable to the community with strong ethical values, and capable of leadership and critical thinking.

Additionally, students will develop skills in information management and entrepreneurial management. Upon completing 124 credits of study, graduates are awarded the Bachelor of Tamil Language and Linguistics degree.

STPM  

Pass STPM with a minimum CGPA of 3.00

Graduates from the Tamil program have various career opportunities in multiple fields. In public relations, they can work as Customer Ambassadors, Human Resource Officers, Marketing Officers, and Information Officers for banks, telecommunications, and corporate companies. In the media sector, they can pursue roles as news writers, editorial assistants, journalists, translators, copywriters, and web content editors across newspapers, television, radio, and internet platforms. This diverse skill set allows them to thrive in dynamic environments where effective communication is essential.
