The Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning program at Universiti Malaya (UM) is a professional program aligned with the requirements of the Board of Town Planners Malaysia. This program distinguishes itself from similar offerings at other universities, such as UTM, UiTM, UIA, and USM, by focusing on spatial planning for sustainable development.
Graduates of UM’s Urban Planning program are equipped to navigate the challenges of a rapidly urbanizing world, making them well-prepared for the complexities of modern urban and regional issues. The department aims to be a center of excellence in urban and regional planning studies and research within the Asia-Pacific region.
The region serves as a living laboratory, allowing students and researchers to identify, analyze, and examine urban and regional issues while formulating effective strategies for sustainable development.
