Entry Requirement

  • (STPM) – Pass with at least two modules with minimum CGPA of 2.0
  • Ministry of Education (MOE) Matriculation – Pass with minimum CGPA 2.0

COURSE MODULES

  • Year 1 

Semester 1

Creative Coding and Programming 

Coding is the translation of natural language into machine commands, while programming requires more knowledge and skills. Creative Coding teaches object-oriented programming for design, art, and games, while programming covers basics in C++, including iteration, decision branching, and data types.

Digital Typography 

This module enhances students' typographic design skills through exercises, projects, research, readings, and computer-assisted learning. It covers traditional, contemporary, and experimental typography theory and techniques.

Contemporary History of Graphic Design 

This module investigates the diverse cultural functions and critical definitions of design over time and across places. It introduces the broad stylistic movements common to western European graphic design, as well as interrogating and re-writing a received definition of design history which excludes globally diverse artifacts, designers, practices, and users.  

Digital Illustration  

This module focuses on Adobe Photoshop proficiency and digital tools in digital arts, preparing students to create complex illustrations for export, graphics software, web, and offset printing, exploring traditional and digital methods.

Academic Writing 

This module enhances students' academic writing skills by exposing them to various writing styles and genres, providing techniques, guidelines, and hands-on experience in drafting, organising, revising, and proofreading academic texts. This helps students transfer essential writing skills to other academic reports and papers throughout their bachelors degree programme.

Digital Graphic Design 

This module focuses on Adobe Photoshop proficiency and digital tools in digital arts, preparing students to create complex illustrations for export, graphics software, web, and offset printing, exploring traditional and digital methods.

 

Semester 2

Database 

This module teaches students about database and file management systems, data modelling, file management, and database application design, focusing on practical skills for creating, controlling, and executing SQL statements.

Audio Production 

This module introduces students to the psychological study of creativity, covering theories, processes, characteristics, blocks, motivation, and creative thinking tools for problem-solving.

Digital Video Production 

This module focuses on developing professional skills in video pre-production, production, and post-production, covering techniques, aesthetics, and hands-on experience using digital video.

2D Animation 

This module introduces 2D computer animation concepts, techniques, principles, and application, requiring prior computer graphics knowledge for students.

Experimental Media & Interface 

This module explores experimental media production in art making, focusing on various forms, sound and image relationships, narrative structures, and non-narrative structures. Students learn industry-standard theory and UI development methods.

Physical Computing 

Physical Computing is a module that explores human communication through computers, focusing on physical expression. It introduces students to microcontroller programming, electronics, and interaction design, focusing on sensing, signal processing, and interactive communication.

Semester 3

Appreciation of Ethics and Civilisation / Malay Communication Language II 

This module aims to teach students about the ethics and civilisation in Malaysia's diverse society, focusing on its historical evolution from pre-colonial to post-colonial times. It emphasises the importance of understanding these concepts in a diverse society, fostering national unity and integrating them into academic activities. The module also highlights the role of globalisation and information technology in shaping national unity. It uses High Impact Education Practices (HIEPs) to deepen understanding and address challenges in sustaining ethics and civilisation in Malaysia.

Integrity and Anti-Corruption 

This module explores corruption concepts, including integrity, anti-corruption, corruption behavior, power abuse, and prevention methods. It uses experiential learning through individual and group activities, aiming to equip students with knowledge on integrity, corruption, anti-corruption, and power misuse prevention.

Community Service 

This module explores community involvement projects, proposal preparation, and effective project characteristics. It uses interactive classes, group discussions, experiential learning, and volunteerism to teach values, ethics, leadership, teamwork, and social responsibility.

 
  • Year 2

Semester 1

User Experience and Interface (UX and UI) 

This module teaches students the difference between UX and UI Design, their roles, and how they work together to create great designs. It covers fundamentals like User Persona, User Journey/flow, and principles of good interface design.

Real-time Media 

This module teaches students about real-time media, a technique where events are portrayed at the same rate, and its development, including interactive and streaming media, which are applications that deliver multimedia data in real-time.

Visual Language and Spatial Practices 

This module explores image analysis, perception process, and techniques for creating memorable visual messages. It also covers Spatial Practices, focusing on object, installation, and time-based practices in visual arts.

3D Character Modelling  

This module introduces 3D design concepts and offers practical experience in creating and evaluating 3D still and motion graphics through storyboarding, design, animation, and rendering.

Digital Visual Effect 

This module offers intermediate Digital Visual Effects for Motion Graphics, focusing on 3D visual effects development, including pre-visualisation, match moving, dynamics, multi-pass rendering, and node-based digital compositing, and post-production scene setup.

Design Thinking 

This module explores Design Thinking's application in fields like engineering, management, and information technology. It explores its application in problem-solving, business model design, facilitation, mediation, visualisation, and innovation, urging users to enhance their methods and toolboxes.

 

Semester 2

XR Animation 

Interactive Content Development  

This module teaches students about interactive content development and aims to equip them with the skills to create high-impact content using appropriate methods and software.

Mixed Reality 

This module introduces Augmented Reality, a technology that blends the physical and virtual worlds, transforming advertising, gaming, and education. It teaches students how to implement sensor-based and computer vision-based Augmented Reality applications.

Responsive Environment Design 

The module teaches students about designing responsive environments using sensory technology and computer equipment, fostering a collaborative relationship between objects and human body movements.

Virtual Reality 

This module explores hardware, software, and cognitive foundations for creating advanced virtual reality (VR) systems, providing students with a deep understanding and practical experience in developing effective, comfortable, and design-driven VR systems.

Semester 3

New Venture Creation 

This module outlines a structured programme for entrepreneurs to start and grow sustainable businesses in the mainstream economy, allowing learners to tender for public and private sector opportunities.

Professional Communication 

The module focuses on workplace communication skills and persuasive presentations, emphasising the importance of strategic, carefully chosen words, and respect. It explores interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, persuasion strategies, negotiation, and feedback guidelines, highlighting the role of effective communication in professional and personal success.

Fundamentals of Creative Professionals

This module enhances students' understanding of creative professional practice, develops interpersonal and communication skills, and emphasises ethics in the workplace, preparing them for internships or creative industry work. 

 
  • Year 3

Semester 1

Third Language 

This module is designed for students to learn a foreign language. It provides them with the basic knowledge to understand and communicate in the oral and written forms whilst covering the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will be exposed to elementary reading materials of the foreign language.            

Emerging Technologies in Interactive Media 

Final Year Multimedia Project I 

This module will incorporate all the modules that have been studied from the first year of studies. It includes analysing and designing a system or software, the use of databases, data structures and algorithms, web programming, data communications and more. Final year students are required to build a final project based on their programme or modules attended.

Digital Fabrication & Prototyping 

This module teaches students digital fabrication techniques, including computer-aided design, 3D printing, laser cutting, and microcontrollers, to create and build prototypes.

 

Semester 2

Interactive Media Project Management  

This module explores project management in interactive media projects, covering initiation, planning, scheduling, monitoring, control, and termination, focusing on project network usage and time and cost estimation.

Philosophy and Current Issues 

This module explores the connection between philosophy and the National Philosophy of Education and Rukun Negara, focusing on epistemology, metaphysics, and ethics. It emphasises philosophy's role in promoting dialogue and fostering shared values, forming a comprehensive body of knowledge.

Final Year Multimedia Project II 

This module covers first-year studies, including system analysis, software design, database usage, data structures, algorithms, web programming, and data communications, with final year students constructing a project.

Semester 2

Industrial Training

This module exposes students to the working environment of organisations outside the university, allowing them to apply lecture concepts and theories in computer science and cyber security.
