Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Physics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers an in-depth exploration of the application of physics in the medical field. This program focuses on the technical principles underlying the use of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, with particular emphasis on radiology, radiation oncology, and nuclear medicine.
PhD candidates will conduct rigorous research that contributes to the development and optimization of treatment methods, particularly in radiation therapy, where ionizing radiation is critical for treating various cancers through techniques such as external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy. The program also prioritizes the maintenance of high safety standards for radiation exposure among patients, healthcare professionals, and the broader public. Graduates will be well-prepared to make significant contributions to the field of medical physics, advancing both treatment outcomes and safety protocols.
