Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Extension By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) explores the fundamental concepts and objectives of agricultural extension, including the roles of extension workers, the history and organization of extension services, and various extension methods and techniques. The program delves into the extension process, rural sociology, leadership patterns in rural communities, and community organization.
Students will engage with the principles and philosophy of extension communication, the extension teaching process, and adult learning approaches. The curriculum also covers the principles, steps, and models of program planning and evaluation, as well as concepts, theories, and guidelines related to extension administration. In addition, students will study statistics and research methods pertinent to extension, agricultural journalism, and contemporary issues in extension and rural development.
This doctoral program aims to equip students with essential skills, techniques, and practical experience necessary for advancing their careers in agricultural extension, providing the knowledge and expertise needed to address real-world challenges in the field.
