Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Genomics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) emphasizes advanced genomic applications to enhance the understanding of biological processes for improved crop and livestock production. The program explores a range of genomic resources, including genome sequences, physical maps, and genetic polymorphisms, to tackle pressing agricultural challenges.

Students will investigate alleles associated with yield and resistance to abiotic stress and diseases, integrating these traits into genetic material through molecular markers and conventional breeding techniques. 

The curriculum also delves into gene expression mechanisms and epigenetic effects, fostering a comprehensive understanding of phenotypes and their interactions with the environment.

Entry Requirements 

• A master’s degree in the field or related fields accepted by the UPM Senate
