Doctor of Philosophy in Anatomy and Histology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers an in-depth exploration of anatomy, incorporating macroscopic (gross), microscopic (histology), and developmental (embryology) aspects. The program includes detailed study of gross anatomy, covering regional, systemic, and clinical approaches; histology, which employs various staining techniques to examine tissues microscopically; and embryology, focusing on the progression from embryo to fetus.

PhD candidates will engage in research that serves as a foundation for understanding induced and natural diseases, toxicology, pharmacology, innovative therapeutic approaches, natural products, and cancer studies. The application of anatomy and histology facilitates investigations into the mechanisms of action of compounds in organisms at the tissue and cellular levels. The program's research strengths include developing synthetic materials for bone repair and studying diseases in ruminants and avians.
