Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers an in-depth investigation into advanced topics such as fluid dynamics, fracture mechanics, optimization, operations research, and cryptography. PhD candidates will engage in research regarding fluid stability and surface tension, as well as 2-D and 3-D crack analysis, including numerical techniques for solving integral equations.
The program emphasizes solving complex Combinatorial Optimization Problems (COPs) using genetic algorithms and exploring differential games in pursuit-evasion scenarios. Research in stability involves analyzing non-autonomous and periodic systems through Lyapunov methods, while optimization focuses on large-scale techniques. Candidates will also study various cryptography areas, including lattice-based methods and elliptic curve cryptography, equipping them to contribute significantly to the field of applied mathematics.
• A Master’s degree in the field or related fields accepted by the UPM Senate
