Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Physics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers an advanced exploration of applying physics principles to address real-world challenges through innovative technology. This program emphasizes research in electromagnetic wave propagation at microwave frequencies, focusing on the development of microwave sensors for agricultural applications and the design of RF and microwave passive devices, including material characterization, circuit design, fabrication, and testing.
PhD candidates will also investigate the fabrication and characterization of photonic materials and sensors relevant to optical communication, medical applications, and bio-photonics. Furthermore, research may include the development and analytical study of novel mid-infrared fiber laser sources emitting in the 2000 nm to 3000 nm range, with emerging applications in safe free-space optical communications, laser range-finding, and military use. Graduates will be equipped to drive significant advancements in applied physics and its diverse applications.
• A Master’s degree in the field or related fields accepted by the UPM Senate
