Doctor of Philosophy in Aquaculture Engineering By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is designed to develop expert knowledge in the application of engineering principles within the aquaculture industry. This program delves into the efficiency of various aquaculture production systems, such as Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), multitrophic culture systems, and photobioreactors. Hydraulic and hydrological components essential for water resource management and movement will be thoroughly examined. Emphasis will be placed on the design of advanced water treatment systems and automation strategies aimed at optimizing productivity.
The program will also tackle issues related to inconsistent water supply, ensuring that aquaculture practices meet required standards for water quality and quantity. Additionally, the integration of IoT technology for real-time monitoring of production system efficiency and the use of image processing and sonic technology to observe fish behavior will be key areas of research, ultimately enhancing the quality and yield of fish production.
• A Master’s degree in the field or related fields accepted by the UPM Senate
