Doctor of Philosophy in Bioresource Management By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers an advanced exploration of sustainable bioresource management, focusing on forest plantation development for the wood-based industry and the commercialization of various plant species. This interdisciplinary program encourages PhD candidates to conduct in-depth research on the potential of bioresources, including the screening, identification, and characterization of fast-growing tree species and related plantation crops.
Candidates will study the intricate connections between society, economics, and biological systems, integrating knowledge on topics such as flora-fauna-environment interactions, species-site suitability, tissue culture, ecosystem modeling, and land-use planning. The program also emphasizes the social and economic aspects of plantation management, preparing graduates to develop innovative and sustainable approaches that address both environmental and community needs.
