Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Pathology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers an advanced exploration of the field of chemical pathology, which involves the analysis and interpretation of biochemical tests crucial for disease screening, diagnosis, management, and prevention. This program delves into biochemical changes across a wide range of substances in blood and body fluids, such as glucose, enzymes, hormones, minerals, ions, RNA, DNA, and others, to understand the etiology, pathophysiology, and progression of various diseases.
PhD candidates will conduct fundamental research in biochemistry, examining the structure, composition, and chemical reactions of substances in living systems. The program emphasizes the development, evaluation, and validation of innovative technologies in chemical pathology. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, pharmacology, physiology, microbiology, molecular biology, immunochemistry, neurochemistry, and the fields of bioinorganic, bioorganic, and biophysical chemistry, positioning graduates to make significant contributions to advances in chemical pathology.
• A Master’s degree in the field or related fields accepted by the UPM Senate
