Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Pathology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) provides an advanced study focused on disease diagnosis and monitoring through laboratory analysis of blood, urine, body fluids, secretions, and tissue specimens. This program includes a comprehensive approach to various laboratory tests, such as hematology, clinical biochemistry, urinalysis, cytology, and molecular techniques.
PhD candidates will engage in research primarily directed at understanding diseases affecting the blood and immune system, exploring coagulation disorders, infectious and noninfectious diseases, cancers, and identifying disease biomarkers and abnormalities in other body systems. Clinical pathology is instrumental in toxicological research, assessing drug and natural product efficacy for disease treatment, and monitoring healing from both induced and naturally occurring diseases. Furthermore, the methodologies utilized in clinical pathology are crucial for evaluating the health status of animal populations and tracking disease prevalence and outbreaks.
