Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology and Public Health By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) provides an advanced exploration of the occurrence, distribution, causes, prevention, control, monitoring, and surveillance of diseases affecting both human and animal populations. PhD candidates will conduct in-depth analyses of epidemiological data to clarify relationships between various risk factors and disease incidence, particularly focusing on emerging and marginalized zoonoses.
Research emphasis will be placed on disease resistance, the safety and quality of food, and the presence of antibiotic residues. Candidates will explore studies that include microbial risk assessments, food quality, and the implementation of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) systems. Additionally, field research will encompass designing epidemiologic studies and developing systems rooted in HACCP principles for livestock farms. This rigorous program equips graduates with the expertise to contribute meaningfully to the fields of epidemiology and public health.
