Doctor of Philosophy in Farm Structures By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on advanced research related to optimal structures for agricultural machinery and implements, storage facilities for agricultural produce, and systems for animal husbandry. The program emphasizes creating controlled environments that enhance animal comfort and productivity in agricultural practices.
Research in this field includes developing mechanisms for maintaining specific environmental conditions tailored to agricultural needs. Students will explore the design and application of automation technologies such as computers, controllers, and sensors to effectively manage lighting, temperature, and automated water control.
Additional research areas involve semi-mechanically controlled environments, cooling systems for naturally ventilated tropical greenhouses, fertigation systems for temperate crops, mechanized greenhouse production systems, and emerging technologies in controlled environment production. Through rigorous research, students will contribute to advancing innovative structural solutions in agriculture.
