Doctor of Philosophy in Metabolomics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) provides an advanced study of metabolites within biological systems. The program centers on understanding the "metabolome," encompassing the full set of metabolites in an organism, which reveals both enzymatic pathways and responses to environmental changes over time.

PhD candidates will engage in research with applications across various fields, including environmental interactions, bioenergy, functional genomics, and metabolic modeling. Techniques like mass spectrometry (MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) enable the analysis of extensive chemical entities. Research projects may focus on agricultural aspects such as plant-pathogen interactions or biomedical applications, particularly investigating the therapeutic properties of plant extracts in managing diabetes, obesity, and cancer.

Entry Requirements
