Doctor of Philosophy in Microbial Biotechnology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on the advanced exploitation of microorganisms for diverse biological and industrial applications through multidisciplinary biotechnology approaches.

This program emphasizes the characterization and optimization of the biochemical and physiological properties of microorganisms using omics technologies and synthetic biology, transforming them into efficient cell factories for producing valuable molecules. 

Research areas include developing innovative disease diagnostics, enhancing biological control of pests and pathogens, creating industrial catalysts, and advancing microbial agents for bioremediation.

 The program also underscores the significance of ethics and biosafety in the production process, equipping graduates to make impactful contributions to the field of microbial biotechnology.

Entry Requirements 

• A Master Degree by research in a relevant field.
