Doctor of Philosophy in Multimedia Computing By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers an advanced examination of algorithms for enriching, accessing, and searching extensive amounts of multimedia data. PhD candidates will focus on enhancing search engine algorithms based on user requirements, while addressing provider and service challenges.

Research will span various domains, including healthcare, telecommunications, and geoscience, and will involve the use of mathematical models and machine learning techniques. Current research initiatives encompass image and video content analysis, object detection, human parsing, and the development of learning machines for multi-modal data. Related studies include multimedia information access, interactions, and management, alongside innovative applications like semantic extraction, collaborative backup systems, and query failure prediction, preparing candidates to contribute significantly to the field.
