Doctor of Philosophy in Occupational Safety and Health By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is conducted under the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, providing advanced study in a crucial interdisciplinary field. This program is designed to deepen students' expertise and research capabilities while fostering a robust understanding of the various elements that contribute to occupational safety and health.
The doctoral program covers a wide range of interconnected sub-disciplines, including Occupational Health, Occupational Medicine, Safety Science, Occupational/Industrial Hygiene, Human Factors and Ergonomics, Management Systems, and Policy and Legislation.
PhD candidates will engage in rigorous research through laboratory work, field studies, or a combination of both, leading to significant contributions that will provide insights beneficial to individual, community, and organizational health. The findings are also expected to aid government agencies in developing effective policies, preventive strategies, and management systems for enhanced occupational safety and health outcomes.
