Doctor of Philosophy in Physics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers an advanced exploration of material properties and experimental methodologies in diverse physics subfields. Research is centered on III-V semiconductor materials, focusing on epitaxial growth, characterization, and their applications in nanotechnology and optoelectronics.

PhD candidates will also study carbon nanostructures, including the preparation and properties of carbon nanotubes and graphitic nanofibers, alongside developments in nanostructured coatings and the elemental analysis of sediments through nuclear activation analysis (INAA). Furthermore, the program includes research on teaching physics through innovative methods, such as interactive simulations and multimedia tools, aimed at addressing common conceptual difficulties faced by students. Graduates will be equipped to contribute significantly to both theoretical and applied aspects of physics.
