Doctor of Philosophy in Software Engineering By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) provides an in-depth study of software engineering as an engineering discipline focused on all aspects of software production. PhD candidates will investigate systematic methods and techniques for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of high-quality software solutions.

Research topics encompass theoretical and formal aspects of software engineering, including software architecture, web services, modeling, quality assurance, and management practices. Candidates will also explore enterprise software engineering, green software engineering, component-based approaches, and search-based methodologies. Furthermore, research in special-purpose embedded software engineering will involve interdisciplinary studies from domains such as education, agricultural science, and health science, equipping graduates to contribute significantly to advancing the field.
