Master of Biochemical Engineering By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on the application of chemical engineering principles to living systems and biological materials, including microbes, cells, enzymes, proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, oils, and fats.
The program covers the design and development of biological processes and unit operations, from raw materials preparation to product purification. Key areas of study include bioreaction, fermentation, biopolymer production, biogas generation, composting, bioseparation, plant and animal cell culture, and biotransformation.
Applications of this field are prominent in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, food production, biomaterials, agriculture, environmental management, biological wastewater treatment, bioremediation, and bioenergy. Graduates will be well-equipped to contribute innovative solutions to these dynamic sectors.
