Master of Science in Agricultural Genomics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) emphasizes innovative genomic applications to enhance the understanding of biological processes in crop and livestock improvement. The program focuses on utilizing genomic resources, such as complete genome sequences and genetic polymorphisms, to address agricultural challenges.
Students will learn to detect and characterize gene alleles related to yield and resistance to abiotic stress and diseases, incorporating these alleles through molecular markers into breeding programs for improved performance.
The program also explores gene expression mechanisms, regulatory interactions, and the epigenetic effects on genetic material, contributing to a better understanding of phenotypes and their environmental interactions.
