Master of Science in Applied Physics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on applying physics principles to create innovative technological solutions for industrial, scientific, and medical applications. The research is centered on theory, simulation, and instrumentation related to electromagnetic wave propagation, particularly at microwave frequencies. Students will explore the development of microwave sensors for agricultural purposes and engage in the design and analysis of RF and microwave passive devices, covering material selection, circuit design, fabrication, and testing.
Additionally, the program includes research on photonic materials and sensors crucial for optical communication and medical applications. Emerging research areas also focus on mid-infrared fiber laser sources that operate within the 2000 nm to 3000 nm wavelength range, which have potential applications in eye-safe free-space optical communications, laser range-finding, and bio-photonics. Graduates are prepared to contribute to advancements in applied physics and its technological applications.
• A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.750 or equivalent, as accepted by the UPM Senate
