Master of Science in Bioresource and Technology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on the sciences, processing, and technologies related to the utilization of bio-resources. These include wood and fibers from both forest and non-forest sources, agricultural wastes (such as oil palm, coconut, pineapple, and banana), and non-wood biomass like kenaf, bamboo, rattan, and medicinal plants.
This program covers various sub-fields, including dendrochronology, wood and fiber anatomy and morphology, and the physics, chemistry, and mechanics of these materials. Students will engage in research related to the processes of sawing, drying, machining, and enhancing the quality of wood-based products. Additionally, the curriculum will address bio-composite manufacturing, pulp and paper production, bioenergy generation, phytochemical extractions, industrial management, grading and quality control, and the commercialization of wood-based products.
• A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.750 or equivalent, as accepted by the UPM Senate
